Troubleshooting

A terminal says "command not found: accio"

The folder accio is installed in isn't on your PATH. Choose Setup > Install accio Command, even if accio is already installed: Fidelius checks the PATH and offers to add the folder (click Add to PATH). Then open a new terminal window, since windows already open don't see the change. To do it by hand, add export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH" to ~/.zshrc. See Get started.

Output shows <concealed by fidelius: NAME>

accio hid a secret value because an AI agent ran the command, or FIDELIUS_MASK=1 is set. This is expected. A terminal or editor started from an agent's shell (for example code . run by Claude Code) counts as the agent too, so accio conceals there as well. Open it from the Dock instead. If you need the raw output, add --no-mask. If a plain setting is being hidden, turn off its Hide in agent output switch. See What agents see.

A file an agent wrote holds concealed text instead of the value

The agent wrote the file through accio without --no-mask. Run the command again with accio my-app --no-mask -- ….

"is missing" when running accio

A --require key isn't in the project or in shared. Add it in Fidelius, or check its spelling with accio list my-app.

Changes are paused

On a Mac that is waiting for your secrets from another Mac, Fidelius pauses changes so nothing overwrites what's still arriving. When every project and secret count matches your other Mac, click Everything's Here.

My two Macs changed the same secret while offline

iCloud Keychain keeps one of the two values. The other isn't in Recently Deleted, but your backups hold earlier values. See Backups and restore.

My other Mac has an older Fidelius

Update Fidelius on every Mac. An older version drops tags, manual order and dates from secrets it edits, and it deletes without keeping a copy in Recently Deleted.

A bar says backups haven't worked for a day

The bar says why. Click Open Settings and check the folder in the Backups tab. If the folder is in iCloud Drive, check that iCloud Drive is on. See Backups and restore.
